The Сonference Mediator's Communicative and Legal Tools. Recent Scientific and Practical Research

The wide-scale conference Mediator's Communicative and Legal Tools. Recent Scientific and Practical Research was held on 24 May 2024 at the National Research University Higher School of Economics.

The conference was organized by the Solis Mediation Center, the Department of Career Development and Alumni Relations of the National Research University Higher School of Economics, and the Russian Institute of Modern Arbitration.

There was a plethora of attendees, including mediators, lawyers, representatives of the business community, teachers and students. More than 150 participants were pre-registered for the conference to participate in the face-to-face and online format, and more than 800 participants were able to watch the conference broadcast on 01.06.2024.

The conference program included the following topics:

  • Reframing in the mediator's work.
  • Execution of mediation agreements in Russia and abroad.
  • Non-verbal communications in mediator's work.
  • Dispute settlement practice in MTS. Mediator's tools in settling internal corporate disputes.
  • Rapport: advantages and difficulties.
  • Assertive behaviour in personal life and in mediator's work.
  • Techniques of regulating the emotional atmosphere in mediation.
  • Questions as an effective tool in mediator's work.
  • Prospects for the application of mediation in criminal proceedings on economic crimes. Necessary reforms.
  • Social and legal aspects in the resolution of legal conflicts.

The speakers of the conference were:

Daria Zhdan-Pushkina — mediator, head of the Mediation Center Solis, lawyer, practicing in the field of commercial law and consulting for foreign clients, acts as an arbitrator in commercial disputes, lecturer at the National Research University Higher School of Economics on the mediation program.

Konstantin Tsymbalov — Legal Advisor of the Russian Arbitration Center, lawyer in arbitration, corporate and tax law, structuring of groups of companies.

Natalia Frolova — mediator of the Mediation Center Solis, head of the legal department of an international automobile concern, practicing in the sphere of management of internal legal issues of the company, in the sphere of settlement of corporate and financial disputes.

Veronika Demidova — mediator of the Mediation Center Solis, counselor of an international law firm, practicing arbitrator from the VIAC list, assists in resolving commercial law disputes.

Evgenia Ozerova — mediator, auditor, Int.Dip GRC, Head of the Corporate Engagement Division of the Business Ethics and Compliance Department of PAO MTS .

Susana Kirakosyan — mediator at the Mediation Center Solis, PhD in Law, Associate Professor, Chairperson of the Subcommittee of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation on business development in the sphere of residential real estate management, member of the working group of the State Duma Committee on Construction and Housing and Communal Services on improvement of housing legislation, practicing in the sphere of dispute resolution related to real estate and housing and communal services.

Polina Kondratyuk — mediator of the Mediation Center Solis, Chairperson of the Bar Association, has been working with business disputes for more than 15 years: she represents clients in Russian courts of all levels, including the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation, in international commercial arbitrations (ICAC at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation, IAC at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation).

Sergey Filin — mediator of the Mediation Center Solis, has many years of experience in banks (Bank of Russia, commercial banks), financial and other organizations in various positions (from lawyer and business consultant to deputy chairman of the bank's board and regional head of the Bank of Russia).

Anastasia Shirobokova — lecturer at the Open Law School on criminal law, current employee of Raiffeisen Bank, ex-compliance junior lawyer of Tinkoff, graduate of the Avito trainee legal program and the Ministry of Sport of the Russian Federation, graduate of D.A. Zhdan-Pushkina's mediation course.

Anna Belyakova — PhD in Law, Senior Researcher at the Center for Private Law at the Institute of Legislation and Comparative Law under the Government of the Russian Federation.
