Gunawan Widjaja is the Head of Doctoral Study at the Faculty of Law Universitas 17 Agustus 1945 Jakarta, Founder and Partner at Widjaja & Associates, and Registered as Panel of Arbitrators at the Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC), SHIA, SCIA, SCIAHK, and BIAMC, a sports arbitrator and adjudicator at AIAC, and a mediator at BIAMC.

As a lecturer, Gunawan Widjaja has written more than 70 books; 50 are in Indonesian, and 20 are in English. His majors are Business Law, Medical Law, and Ethics. As a practicing lawyer, Gunawan Widjaja works with legal issues related to (international) trade, contracts, corporate, investment, finance, insurance, real estate, construction, sports, health, and Alternative Dispute Resolution (Arbitration). Over the past 35 years, he has been involved in and familiar with litigation, arbitration, and mediation.

Gunawan Widjaja is also a member of the Indonesian Advocate Association (PERADI), the International Bar Association (IBA), the London Court of International Arbitration, the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, and the Singapore Institute of Arbitrators.
The President appointed him as a member of the Indonesian Pharmaceutical Council (2022-2024).
